Volunteering in the community has been a part of my life for many years. Since high school I have been a member of organizations based that give back to the community. So, two years ago, as a new resident of Nashville, I was seeking the perfect organization to make a part of my life. My decision was Big Brothers Big Sisters of Middle Tennessee. My little sister is 8-year-old Jasmine. The goal of the relationship is for me to be a positive adult influence and encourage Jasmine to make good decisions now and for the future. We spend much of our time on homework, cooking/baking, making gifts, talking and having fun! I love all the questions she has about life and enjoy talking to her about sharing, generosity, compassion, setting goals, and growing up. She is currently saving money she earns by helping around the house to buy a pair of TOMS – something she wants and something that gives to others! Being a mentor and sharing my values and life is very rewarding in so many ways and I hope to be a part of Jasmine’s life for many years to come! So when I joined The Container Store, I was thrilled to learn about all of their community involvement. The nonprofit partnerships as each new store opens are very exciting and create an immediate connection and presence within the community.
