   Is there any way this theory can be applied to a non-profit? I work for a library system that has good benefits and a stable funding base. We have many new young managers coming on the scene and I want them to think in this way. Thanks in advance

   So excited to hear that you all are coming to Nashville! My husband and I just spent time in Atlanta where we included a visit to one of the locations there – now we won’t have to drive 4 hours to be able to shop with you in person. It’ll be great to have you in TN!

   After being laid off by Expo Design Center, I have been looking for another company that would give me the enjoyment of working that I had there. I applied to The Container Store once before, but got no reply. After seeing this piece on “CBS Sunday Morning,” I knew I had to try again. I have been invited to a group interview and I am excited.

   The employee first culture is unusual in retail, but exactly what I am looking for. I was a part of a great team with Expo. I felt appreciated, was recognized for achievement, and I was paid well. I looked forward to going to work every day because I loved serving our customers and being part of a great team. I want to work in an environment like that again.

    I love the story about The Container Company. Here is a company that understands the fundamentals of corporate culture. They put their money where their mouth is and they not only “talk-the-talk,” they “walk-the-walk. Kip and his management team understand that the first requirement of a terrific culture is to make sure that mission, vision and values are in alighnment with the purpose of thier organization. In the ideal corporate culture, personal agendas are sacrificed on behalf of organizational agendas, and that includes behavior. Few would disagree that through conduct, values will influence personal performance and, ultimately, business profitablility. With all this being said and the rigor of evidence, you would think other organizations would gravitate toward The Container Company model. I’m a fan of author and marketing guru Ken Blanchard, who says, “Although this might sound like common sense, so often I’ve found that common sense is not common practice in organizations today.”
