We recently came across a blog written by Aaron Hurst of the Purpose Economy where he shares his advice for crafting a “resuME”- a resume that’s at the intersection of your hard skills and what you’re passionate about. He points out that traditionally, most of us “shape our skill set to fit whatever the job at hand is. When we do this, it can feel as if you’re trying to fit yourself into a mold that might be more of a round hole, while you might be more of a square peg.”
When interviewing job candidates to join our team at The Container Store, we always tell them that the interview process is a two-way street. We want to make sure they’re a good fit for us – for our culture, for our team and for the position – but it’s just as important that our company is a good fit for them, too! This is why we LOVE the idea of the resuME!
Aaron’s blog offers up four great ways to help you craft your resuME, and it’s as simple as writing down what you’re passionate about and some of your best qualities. Try it and let us know what you think!
