It’s fair to say we’re passionate about the retail industry. No other industry in the world provides the same variety of careers and employs students, teachers, tech gurus, marketing geniuses, fashionistas, and retirees; while simultaneously driving our country’s economy. So it makes perfect sense that we’re also passionate about the Dream BIG Scholarship from the National Retail Federation and the University of Phoenix, that aims to help current retail employees further their educations and careers in this awesome industry.
We’re thrilled to celebrate The Container Store’s SEVENTH Dream BIG Scholarship recipient, Kevin Jackson!! Check out the video below to see how folks in our home office, including Chairman Kip Tindell, surprised Kevin with the news.
Kevin is our Procurement Coordinator and has been with The Container Store for 17 years (the same number of years we’ve been on the Fortune 100 Best Companies to Work For List…coincidence? Probably not). He started his career with us unloading trucks for merchandise processing at our San Antonio store. Since then he’s worked in sales, visual sales, and several departments in our distribution center before taking his current position at our home office. Kevin will be using his scholarship to work toward a Bachelor’s degree in Business with a Supply Chain Management certificate.
One of last year’s Dream BIG scholarship recipients, Timberey Meeks, called Kevin a role model and said, “He’s that person who is going out and getting a degree after being here for 17 years! He still has that tenacity and that want to go out and better himself. That’s an exciting part [of winning the scholarship] and hopefully others will follow in his footsteps.”
We couldn’t be more excited for Kevin and all of this year’s scholarship recipients. Read more about each of them and learn how to apply for the scholarship on the National Retail Federation’s site.
