It was our first Family Movie Night at The Container Store as more than 300 employees from our office and distribution center along with their families and friends joined in for a night of food, fun and togetherness as a TCS family.  There was face painting and one of our super talented employees treated the kids (and some adults) to balloon animals!  We hosted tours of our world-class 1.1 million square foot facility and then settled in for the movie, Cars 2 projected on a large screen on the lawn.  Our employees commented over and over that the best part was just having the opportunity to introduce their families to their colleagues.

“It’s amazing to think with as much time we spend with our colleagues how rare it is to be in community with each other’s families. Quite often it becomes a line in corporate America that is difficult to cross. The Container Store continues to live up to our unapologetic sense of community by affording us an event to bring our families together. There’s nothing that gives one pleasure more than watching our children romp around with smiles on their faces all while looking up and seeing the people you spend the most time around. Names met faces, hands and hugs were shared, stories elaborated, and community grew. It’s the DNA of our company.”

“My girls had a great time!   The face painters were off the charts, in fact, the girls wanted to keep the princess and butterfly on their face for church on Sunday.”

“What a treat it was meeting everyone’s families.  Movie Night under the stars was a great time to CONNECT with those we work with. It is fun spending time with my co-workers, but the joy is enhanced when kids are involved.”

“I brought my brother, his wife and two teenagers and my sister.  I was soooooo anxious for them to see my “Utopia” and fellow Utopians (is that even a word???)  The food was perfect.  The children running around with painted faces and balloon animals/hats/swords were just darling and seemed to be having a ball!  All of us went on the tour and came away suitably amazed.  The movie captivated the kids and provided laughs for the adults.  The weather was gorgeous…just the right amount of “nippy.”  Then we followed the cute, little luminaries along the path back to the front of the building… everyone telling about their favorite part of the event.  It was truly a delightful evening!”

“WOW!  This night was truly magical!  It was a ‘warm fuzzy’ (as my kids used to say) and definitely gave me an incredible feeling of pride in our great company!   The best part? Having the opportunity to meet the families of co-workers.  Gotta love that ‘extended’ family time!”
