At The Container Store’s headquarters here in the Dallas area, we have nearly 300 hard-working (1=3) employees who spend the day in our Distribution Center ensuring our products are getting to our stores and our customers.  With record-breaking summer temperatures still hitting the area, we’ve been able to maintain a more comfortable temperature inside our Distribution Center with very large ceiling fans and a focus on air circulation.  In order to do even more to keep our employees cool, a few years ago we came up with a great way to show our appreciation for these members of our team – and “The Water Truck” was born.

So, Monday through Friday at 1 pm, a member of the Home Office partners with someone from the Distribution Center to visit each department giving everyone chilled water bottles and cold towels.  It also adds a real Air of Excitement throughout the Distribution Center!

I thought I would have a particularly hard time finding volunteers this year – because of the heat.  Instead, I have more volunteers than days available!  In fact, after someone rides on The Water Truck, they usually send me an email asking to go again.  The employees in our Distribution Center are so thankful, so happy and just plain grateful.  It’s humbling.
