How many times have you taken the old batteries out of a toy, remote or appliance, and not really knowing what else to do with them, just tossed them in the trash can? At The Container Store we recognize if these batteries are collected and disposed of properly, it will help keep corrosive and toxic materials from ending up in landfills and polluting our environment.
So, we’ve recently partnered with the company, Veolia, and put together a program to collect batteries from our employees at each of our Stores across the country and our Home Office/Distribution Center. We encourage employees to use the recycling program at work, but to also bring their used batteries from home and recycle them, as well.
Included in the program are alkaline, lead, lithium, mercury, nickel-cadmium, nickel metal hydride, silver and zinc carbon… that’s radio, laptop, and even the batteries used in our hand-held Radio Frequency devices in the Stores!
