   I love that you had an employee art show. I am a new artist in watercolor, and I am slowly learning to “see” in order to make a better painting. It takes a little extra time and patience to create beauty. Your employees know that it takes a little extra time and patience to give their best help to a customer to ensure that their purchase meets their needs accurately. I have experienced this time and again at The Container Store especially in Elfa closet makeovers! The businesses that deserve to withstand economic downturns are the ones with the best caring customer service. The only way to give that to customers is to give that sense of care to your employees first. If the employee is happy, they will give that in their customer service which translates to better sales long term. Why isn’t this the norm anymore! Congratulations to The Container Store for “getting it!”

   I should be amazed, but I’m not. I find that people who excel in one area generally have great talent in at least one other, and those are the kind of people that work at the Container Store! You all should auction some of this beautiful art to raise money for your philanthropies!
