We love this recent blog post by Jeff Klein, CEO of the company Working for Good, about the power of purpose. He so smartly says, “Purpose is an activating, motivating and animating force. It moves us to get up in the morning, sustains us when times get tough and serves as a guiding star when we stray off course.”
We couldn’t agree more. When you BELIEVE in the work that you’re doing – when you really feel that it’s making a difference in the world – don’t you naturally want to work harder?
Conscious Capitalism challenges businesses to seek their “higher purpose” beyond profits. Every conscious business has a higher purpose that addresses fundamental questions such as “Why is the world better because we’re here?”
Our purpose is to improve the quality of our customers’ lives through the gracious gift of organization. In doing this, we must stay true to our Foundation Principles, which guide us in creating an organization where everyone associated with it THRIVES. It’s true, we sell empty boxes – but that’s not why people come to shop with us. It’s because by getting organized, they feel like “Mom of the Year,” that they can focus more, that they save more money…and we’ve even heard from people that The Container Store has saved their marriage!!!
What’s your company’s higher purpose? We hope you’ll leave a comment here letting us know.
