High Meadows School is a progressive school that puts the students in charge of their own learning through constructivist methods and teaching through inquiry. We believe the arts are a powerful assistant in making sense of the world and integrate the arts into all areas of instruction. Students are engaged and learning through all five senses with multiple ways to demonstrate understanding. We provide the opportunity to experience a wide variety of media and that means we have a lot of stuff to keep organized and accessible! We encourage students to think and act like artists, setting up, caring for and putting away their own materials. To properly promote personal responsibility, as well as store and make available a vast array of materials , the limited spaces we have to house supplied have to be brilliantly organized. My school, Calvary Christian School, should have a makeover because we provide education with a higher purpose. The school was established in 1973 and continues to encompass some of the highest academic standards to enable children to grow mentally, physically, emotionally, and spiritually. We challenge all of our children’s academic potential and which are supported by our standardized testing scores that reach beyond the State’s standards. As a non-profit, non denominational school non-profit school, we are unable to financially support innovative changes to many areas of our school due to the recent changes in the economy. It would be a blessing to receive your organizational makeover so that we are able to continue our efforts to fulfill our obligation to properly educate the children of tomorrow.

I am a parent of a freshman and co president on PTSO org. at Katherine Anne Porter School in Wimberley, Texas. We are a charter school, very small 142 kids. This is our 1st year at this school and i feel like we have been here for ever. Just walk through the door and you are part of the family. The kids donate alot of their time to helping in the community. The teachers are the best in my 9 years of going through school systems with my son i have never seen teachers like this. They donate their time,lots of time and so much energy to the kids and school. Its a small school so all the staff where’s many hats. If something needs built they build. Thee teachers here are different they really care if a child is having a problem or not making the grades. If a child wanted to stay late, you can bet a teacher will want to stay right along with them to make sure these kids get this. The teachers respect the kids and in return the kids respect the teachers. The kids leave this school more than just book smart they have more confidence than they ever would of got anywhere else. They are taught regular classes but the are also taught life skills. They also teach them respect, participation, academic priorities and community service!! There mission is to nurture individual interest and work together to enhance the community responsibility of there students. I love this place. I have never wanted to be involved with my sons schools, not here i want to be so involved, i can’t say enough about how much they have helped my son since we came here. He hated school and did not care to show how smart he is. Since we came he loves it, does not want to miss school and his grades are just awsome and most important he is proud of himself. Becing a teenage in this day and age is so hard. KAPS makes it so much easier. I want to do my part to help them be the best that they can be. I’m so proud to be apart of this school. I would love to help them when $1,000 it would really help us. i know it ended in August but i’m hoping yall will do this again . Thanks so much for what yall do to help achools

Please help the Rockets “take off” during this school year and reach their goals by organizing the classrooms. Our older school could use the help and increase the safety by replacing poor shelving. Many rooms lack any type of storage. Excited and energetic teachers and students would help with the process.

We were very fortunate that our son was able to attend the Museum Charter School in San Diego, CA last year for 1st grade. Our entire family became part of the community that this school has created. Because it is a charter school there isn’t a great deal of funds available for extras like elaborate organizational systems but the teachers and staff are able to work with the building and resources they do have. They devote so much time beyond just classroom time even coming in on the weekends or breaks to paint bathrooms and refinish floors as needed. It would be a wonderful for the Museum School to receive this gift.

My school deserves a makeover because it is an old school without a lot of storage space and we need it! Our building is made of concrete so we only have a few options for storage; movable bookcases and permanent shelves the district has drilled in. Many of us have taken our closet doors off our closets and had shelves built inside to store our things and we have so many guides and manuals and books that they can be hard to organize in a way we can see them. Plus all of the manipulatives for our students and their books are easy to misorganize. it would be great for us to get a makeover so we can liven up our classrooms and help us feel “new” and fresh.

Claremont Academy, an urban public middle and high School in Worcester, Massachusetts is where I will start teaching this fall. After accepting the position I was shocked to see that the building was built without closets or cabinets in the classrooms for teachers to store their supplies in. I was so use to having a lot of storage in my past school that I did not give any thought to what I would do with all the documents, artifacts, and every day supplies I buy for my students to use.

In an urban setting teacher spend so much of our own money to supplement our classrooms. I believe that organization is so important to the classrooms mood and also management. The teachers at Claremont Academy have such a hard time keeping organized as they must purchase all the containers to store their materials in along with many materials that make their classrooms creative and welcoming places of learning.

Our students deserve neat and organized rooms. They come to our school to be able to create the life they want to lead. They deserve classrooms where supplies are not covering all surfaces and piled in copy paper boxes since there is not any other place to put them. The students at Claremont Academy should be able to access materials easily and in an organized fashion.

My love of The Container Store and the many uses I have found for the storage boxes, draws, shelving, and so many other options for storage leads me to believe that only The Container Store can help Claremont Academy as it works to create the best learning environment for the future of our world.

Thank you very much for considering Claremont Academy and I so hope we can have organization and inspiration as only The Container Store can deliver it.

St. John’s Area School is whom I am putting a request in for the makeover, and of whom I am affiliated with. I did not attend St. Johns but did visit the school as some of my friends went there. I taught colorguard there for 7 years and now things have come full-circle in that our children have been enrolled there for 10 years and will continue to be enrolled there for quite some time. I can honestly say, unless updates had to be made for obvious reasons, there are no updates that have been made since I was in grade school. I got on the parent-teacher organization and we are slowly trying to update but money, parental assistance and time is spread thin. Our teachers and principal are so giving of themselves to the students and the community, the actual appearance of the classroom and building slide down on the priority list. Our classrooms are in dire need of upgrading to make them more efficient for the teachers and more up-to-date for the students. Again, the classrooms are set up with things I recognize from the 70′s and any sort of upgrade would be in a positive direction. Thank you

This is unprecedented growth for an independent school here in Austin, TX. We recently expanded to an additional campus and are in need of basic supplies and organization. Since its inception, the school has been wholly supported by parents and the community, with 100% families serving as volunteers. Parents and teachers often pay for necessary classroom items themselves. Many purchases are made from The Container Store for the quality, durability and design that make our classrooms as bright and unique as our students and teachers, who come from all corners of the world. I would also like to nominate Corvian Community Charter School for this school makeover. Corvian is a clean slate, and this would be a great way to showcase what an amazing product line TCS has to offer. The school is just opening as a charter school road year and supplies are pouring in. Having a bit of help from TVS would free up other resources needed to help teach and nurture our children.

My daughters’ school could definitely use an organization makeover from The Container Store. Princeville Grade School in Princeville, IL is a small town school located in the middle of farm country. We have run out of room and cannot even house all K-8th students so the Kindergarten and 1st graders are in the high school next door. The teachers could use your products to help them in organizing their classrooms. Our school does not have lockers for the junior high students so we could use the money for storage in place of lockers. Our art teacher has a classroom that was built in the cafeteria. Her space is small so the proper organization would benefit her and the students and make her classroom run smoothly. Any consideration in choosing our school is greatly appreciated! My boys attend Paramount Elementary School in Meridian, Id. The school was built with a capacity of 650, but ever since it has opened, the actual enrollment has been 100-225 more students than that each year. The school has had to be very creative in trying to fit everyone in their. With recent state cutbacks for schools, it is harder and harder to make this school work with so many kids. Winning this could really help organize some areas such as the “lost and found” which is right now a hugely overflowing area in a bad location, as well as organize the teacher workroom to make it more efficient. I’d love to see our school win this!

My school really needs an organization makeover!! Our school used to be a grade school and because of overcrowding at the intermediate level, they made our school into a third intermediate school. Unfortunately that didn’t come with any updating and we could really use it. Our school has been around forever. We suffer from lack of space and lack of money to spend on getting organized which would really help things run smoother. We mostly spend time moving things around a lot in hopes of organizing but there is never any where to put things. If our school would win this make over we could have additional space afforded to us from your fabulous organizational products. We would be just over the top to finally get organized and to use your wonderful products would be the icing on the cake!!

My school deserves a makeover because we, like all other schools, have focused all our efforts on the academic achievement of our students. Classrooms are designed without the thought of organizing materials In a functional way. There are many materials required when you are working with such diverse groups and that means we fill our shelves to the brim. Students can succeed at a faster and higher rate if their environment is organized and pleasing to the eye. The organizational expertise your company can furnish would provide both of those attributes.

I just read an article in a magazine or saw on a website that every teacher each year spends at least $1k (at least) on school supplies for each school year on their classroom for things that the students need in addition to what the schools supply as well as what the parents are required to supply. That is special. Our School Boards, Communities, and families are financially strapped for cash. It saddens me that most things in school that came “naturally” while i was growing up, my children do not have an opportunity to know or even given a choice. Such as music class, home ec, woodshop, etc….or even things that were required to learn in gym class, certain sports like volleyball, field hockey, even soccer….our school has no “teams” anymore…everything is extra curricular through our community outreach programs and no longer related to the school??? I cannot go on or preach how our school needs to win this anymore than any other school who has entered. The fact is every school is in dire need of this….and anyone of the schools that is chosen to win will welcome your generosity with open arms. The stories here are TRUE and heartfelt. I wish everyone here GOOD LUCK and I thank you Container Store for the opportunity to make everyones voices heard and for your gracious hearts!! The parents, teachers and staff at Lake Windward Elementary in Alpharetta, Georgia are working together to create a Science Lab! It has been a team effort to get this project off the ground. Our principal provided an empty classroom for our new lab. Teachers, parent volunteers and students worked over the summer to gather science equipment and supplies from all over the school and bring them to the new lab. Now we’re stuck! We don’t know how to organize the space or all of the equipment and supplies. We would love the Container Store’s help in creating a well-organized and efficiently-utilized space for our new Science Lab.

I am entering in hopes of winning this makeover for my daughter’s school Theatre Department.

Yorba Linda High School is a relatively new High School – opened its doors in 2009. It is such a blessing to have my daughter attend this school, but hard as it is to believe, our Theatre Department is starting out with no funding and the financial needs are quite overwhelming. They need to raise money on their own to pay for such things as royalty fees, sets, costumes, props, equipment, (the list goes on and on…).

I would like to add my personal note about how much my daughter loves her teacher. This is my child whom I could not drag out of bed in the morning for anything!!! Now she cannot wait for school to start! Mind you, we are talking about Zero Period that begins at 6:45 a.m. She has also been elected on the Student Theater Board as Marketing Director this year.

Her teacher has truly been a dramatic positive influence in her life. Not only is she an outstanding teacher (their cast won 3 awards at the JRays competition last year), the amount of time and heart that she puts in to starting this new program is incredibly ridiculous, not to mention how much of her own personal finances that she has contributed.

I know that the Container Store could supply her with an outrageous organization system that would – at least in one way – make things easier for her. If I could win this contest for her, it would be just one way of saying “Thank You” for making such a positive impact on my daughter’s life.

With school budgets increasingly tighter and tighter, every dollar is greatly appreciated. Our teachers so often need to spend their own money because the budget doesn’t include the extra items that would help organize the classrooms and students.

Being a retired high school Enlish/Latin teacher, I can easily attest to how much of their own money teachers spend. The pre-k and elementary teachers are in greatest need of organizational assistance because they deal with so much material. In order to make their classes exciting and interesting, these teachers are constantly new materials to their students. The pure volume of teaching aids is amazing; organizing and storing these materials is, at best, practically impossible. The teachers could use their time more efficiently if presented with help from The Container Store. Our children are our future; they deserve as much of their teachers’ time as possible. A worthy recipient of your prize is Long Branch Elementary in Midlothian, Texas. These teachers, not by requirement but by dedication, tutor students before and after school. They create special learning tools and programs to relate to the needs of each child. They give so much of themselves; it would be wonderful to see them receive!

We have attended Corvian Community School since inception. This truly is a school with a community spirit. My family started off meeting with our Director who founded the school and right away, we had a sense of determination, community, and commitment that Ms. Haskell had in creating this school. We have come a long way in a short period and are opening this year as a Charter. We have acquired a new building, and although a ton of work and spirit have gotten us this far, we have a long way to go when we we open with 4 times as many classrooms next year! We would be grateful to TCS for any help that they could give to help us achieve our full Elementary School. Thank you!

With continuous budget cuts, all schools are in great need of help like this. However, it is rare that high schools win these types of contests. As a high school teacher at Terra Linda High School, our school is in need of supplies to offer our students who cannot afford them. Organization and studying are keys for success in college, yet many of our students do not have the space, privacy, or supplies at home to support their studies. It is for this reason that the classroom needs more tools than ever. In addition to being an English teacher, I am also the AVID Coordinator and our roles are to advocate for our students and provide them the skills necessary for college. To do this, I need a space to keep track of their assignments in all classes, store college scholarship opportunities, financial aid information, college applications, etc. The Container Store offers numerous supplies that every school could benefit from! Winning a contest like this would be a dream come true for our students.

My school is just over 75 years old, and maybe back then the storage was adequate! But for the modern classroom, I don’t just have books to store – there’s a smart board, a class set of iPads, and so much more. I’m proud of my urban school for devoting itself to the needs of our students and staying up to date. We have almost 1,000 young women from all over NYC and Nassau county who come for the tradition of excellence with a commitment to valuing diversity and each individual. I would love to see my classroom (or others in my school!) set up for success in organization for the 21st Century! Help us Container Store!

Westhoff elementary has some of the most dedicated teachers I have ever known! I send my child to school everyday assured that they are not only educated, but treated with kindness and respect. The principal, Dr. Sefrid, is wonderful. I see him everyday at the end of the school day outside helping kids cross the street, get to their bus or car, and saying goodbye to them. He knows all their names and I often see kids run to him and give him a hug! He truly cares for each child and makes sure that their school day if filled with learning, fun, and happiness!! I feel so blessed to have such a wonderful school for my child to go everyday and peace of mind that they are well taken care of! It would be so nice to see Westhoff Elementary win this make over, they certainly deserve it!!!

I love the Container Store!! I grew up in Texas with one down the street, and I love being inspired by your store. I help volunteer at Ridegview Elementry in Oklahoma. Our school has just started a new teaching model. In the model the teachers are taught to spend more one on one time with the students and less time with the papers. Many of them do not have a paper system in place to facilitate this model. They are frequently having volunteers sort, grade, organize and re-organize. I know your group could teach and implement a system that would assist all of these teachers!

Hope Christian School is a small private school for children with Learning Disabilities. The teachers are paid 1/3 of what public school teachers make. They are dedicated and truly have a passion to help these children. They have a small space given to them from a local church. Getting the classes, work area and storage organized would be a tremendous help for them and give them more time with the students and not have to work so much after hours by having everything in its place. Please consider Hope Christian School in Sulphur, Louisiana at Maplewood First Baptist Church.

I would be absolutely thrilled if Corvian Community School won this amazing makeover. Corvian Community School was the only school in the Charlotte, NC area to obtain a charter status through the 2011-2012 fast track process. The school started 2 years ago as a low-cost private tuition facility and through dedicated parents, teachers, board of directors and it’s founder, Corvian will open the 2012-2013 year as a charter school. To operate as a charter school, Corvian had to move from 2 trailers in a church parking lot to a new facility in order to house the 500+ students that will be enrolled over the next 2 years. As you can imagine, we need a lot of help! Teachers are relying on donations from parents to get desperately needed items for the school (school supplies, furniture, etc). The community of parents has really come together to make this happen, but we can only do so much. Corvian would greatly benefit from your generous contest!

I would like to nominate Kenneth Murphy Elementary School, 11315 W. Wadsworth Road, Beach Park IL. Some sections are older, but the main portion of this school have been in use since 1967. Until 2001, the building had been a junior high school. The current staff and Principal have worked very hard making this a bright and cheerful place for nearly 500 kindergarten thru 5th graders since that time. The district has worked hard to improve as the budget has allowed them,however, they were just able this year to remodel the bathrooms for the younger population! Money is very tight and our administration has done a lot with a little.

This is the school that my children went to for junior high school and part of the district that I was priviledged to work for as a secretary until I retired.

I hope that you will consider organizing Morrisville Elementary. Morrisville is a year round school with 4 tracks. This means that every track-out teachers have to move all of their possessions out of the classroom to make room for the teachers tracking back in. When they track back in, they are often in a different room. All of this is accomplished over a weekend- so the teachers must be VERY organized. As with all schools, space is a premium to be able to store these possessions during track out. Carts are often crammed in the science supply room, making it tricky to get to science experiment materials. These wonderful teachers do a fabulous job, but doesn’t everyone want to make their jobs a little easier, when they work so hard for our kids?

The staff really try their best to take good care of the facilities and they keep it very clean but as with any older building, there are always things that have to be fixed. While I don’t always feel talented at keeping my world organized, I truly believe that an organized environment makes everything feel better – whether it is my work or my students learning. Everyone benefits.

I work in the school library – a place that is typically known for organization, but our office is always a disaster zone. I believe some simple organization tools and strategies could change the way we work and serve the rest of the building.

My two sons both attend the Edison Regional Gifted Center, a public school in Chicago. I am really delighted with the high quality education they’re receiving, and also with the amazing community of teachers, administrators, staff, parents, and students that are part of the Edison family. The school has experience a number of changes over the years, including a controversial move from one neighborhood to another several years ago, but through it all I think the commitment to excellence and helping each child develop fully as a individual has remained strong. Edison does not receive any money from the Chicago Board of Education for such things as organizational materials, and I truly believe it would be a great benefit to the students and teachers to be awarded this makeover. Sycamore School teachers and children deserves your The Container Store organization makeover because they all work exceptionally hard to achieve exceptional goals. The teachers are inspiring and they truly know how to make learning fun (I wish I could be a student at Sycamore). The children are driven, hardworking and amazingly creative. Although I cannot list all of the achievements from last year, I’d like to list a couple: Sycamore School was the focus of a Discovery Channel documentary for their work with high ability children. Last year, we also had a young man win the National Mathcounts competition.

Along the same lines of the work the Container Store does, the school knows the importance of being organized and actually have a special educational segment they teach to the children in 3rd grade. My daughter is only in first now but we are anxiously awaiting this educational piece that they have so wisely added to the curriculum.

Sycamore School deserves this because everyone involved with the schools gives their very best and I think that alone is worth celebrating. Please come visit us and you’ll see what I mean.

They recently moved to a different location, by purchasing a former nursing home. The kids are all so excited to be there, but it would be really nice to be able to modernize some of the areas. Each year these suites are creatively decorated and innovatively utilized to inspire two or three classes of students in each open classroom space. The Lehigh Valley Charter High School for the Performing Arts (LVPA.org) in Bethlehem Pennsylvania should definitely receive a $1000 makeover! Our school is almost 10 years old, and we have been feeling the growing pains each year as we increase enrollment. Most of our teachers share classrooms, and we have almost no storage space anymore. We try to store classroom/science lab supplies, musical instruments and equipment, supplies/costumes/prop-making materials for our theatre productions, visual art supplies, club/activity supplies, dancer belongings etc. Our spaces are so crowded (and admittedly disorganized), and this prize would be perfect for us!

Our school is in an old factory building, and we have about 460 students in grades 9-12. Every room is used every period of every day. Most of our teachers share classrooms with other teachers, and unfortunately we get in each others’ ways at times! While I am a science teacher and would truly appreciate a makeover of my own classroom, I can also imagine the Container Store makeover re-vamping our visual art rooms and supply bins, helping us make ample space for our students’ work and materials. Or, the Container Store could makeover a few of our shared classrooms to help the teachers keep their classes (and also clubs) efficiently run.

The reality is, every corner of our school inspires a new use of Container Store products! We are such a compact, growing community, and your help would be very much appreciated.

Corvian Community School is a brand new charter school in Charlotte, NC. The school has just about 80 students in four grades for its first year as a charter, with plans to grow to over 400 students next year. As a charter, the school doesn’t receive any capital funding from the state, so the school community must raise money for facilities, supplies and the like. Receiving a makeover grant from the Container Store would be a huge boost in helping the school outfit and retrofit the former daycare building that has been purchased as the school’s home. I am Maria Adkins and I am the dance teacher at Cedar Creek Middle School in Cedar Creek, Texas. Our school has over 700 students in just two grade levels(7th&8th). I teach dance in the small gym where PE and Athletics are also taught so my equipment must be out of the way when I am not teaching class. This can be rather difficult considering I have access to one storage closet that is also shared with PE equipment and Cheerleading items. We currently have a large shelving unit on the back wall but I do not have any place to really organize and store dance costumes and my music equipment or paper work for vocabulary and tests. I am in need of help in gtetting it orgamized and efficient to use for all three of the staff that have access to it without losing items in the proccess. Please Help.

I work in an extremely low-income and inner-city school in Charlotte, North Carolina. My school is a very large school-there are over 100 staff members and over 1000 students! Several of my grade level teachers and I do not have the financial ability to organize as much we would like to, but feel that organization and consistency is especially important in these students’ lives. Our school works with children from grades Pre-K through 5. This is an important age to start good habits, including organization. I believe that if the Container Store was able to help us, we would be better able to service our students. I use shoe boxes from the Container Store in my classroom for some materials and they are so sturdy and are able to hold up to daily classroom usage!

East Lake Elementary School, In Massapequa Park, NY has one of the most amazing PTAs around! The amount of programs made available for our students thanks to our amazing volunteers is astounding. We involve out students with helping others as well, from local food and clothing drives to supporting overseas troops. Dances, fishing trips, field day are just a few of the “fun” things we do. Pictures, parenting help and prepping for kindergarten are a few of the services provided. There is too much to list all of the things our wonderful group provides, and all of this out of the size of a closet! Our only space is a closet located in the cafeteria! Trying to store, file, contain and organize so much is a daunting task and sometimes limits us, or hinders our work. With an organization makeover we could provide better, and more for our fabulous students!

Timing is everything!!!

I am in the process of changing from one elementary school to another in my district. I’m very excited about moving to my new school and working with new students, parents and teachers. It is all very exciting…but, there is one area where I am desperately in need of help. But, it’s not just me who needs help, it is all of the classrooms. My new school is one of the oldest schools in the district (I think it was built in the 1960s) and many of the rooms are small and kind of beaten up. My Students: The classroom environment is so important, and it’s one thing too many teachers do not even think about! One thing that should be a focal point of every classroom is seating. It should be inviting, comfortable and organized. It should also allow for collaboration and encouragement.

Over 90% of my students are seniors. Too many of my students are burned out, frustrated and itching for college. And unfortunately, with a small budget (and the education crisis in Wisconsin), I have been unable to purchase more seating that would support my students and their learning.

My Project: Tables are great for group work and peer interaction. (Right now the only thing in my classroom are desks.) The table allows students to focus on those sitting with them instead of being tempted to focus their attention elsewhere. Since the children will be facing each other, they will be encouraged to interact with those seated at their table. This will help the children develop communication skills and peer interaction. This has been proved in studies to cut down on bullying and boost self confidence.

I want my classroom to have a less formal, more comfortable feel and circular tables are the answer! These tables will break up the monotony of a formal classroom setting of standard desks or tables. Anything that breaks up the traditional setting will excite the kids and give them something to look forward to. My subject (English) promotes creativity and interacting with peers promotes creativity, which allows children to thrive. The design of classroom tables will allow for better movement throughout the room.

I want to foster a passion for reading and writing in all of my students. Additional seating would help me reach all of my students (even those who are resistant to school and/or writing). Please let me know if you have any questions or would like to discuss this proposal further. I look forward to hearing from you.

A classroom table is great for giving specific instruction to smaller groups of students. Children all develop at different rates, making small group instruction a must.

I love what the teachers did on your site! Every teacher and child would be so lucky to have the benefit of your help. My daughter’s school has a holistic approach to education. The teachers are engaged, eager, and invested in our children. The teachers work very hard at creating classrooms that sparks the imagination. Teachers need our support to create a better environment for our kids.
Our daughter’s classroom and her school can use the Container Store’s help in getting organized. Storage right now is a mix of shelves, bins, and containers acquired over the years. I think it is very important to show our children how to be orgaznied and I think that your store has all the tools to help us get there. My school, PS 153Q, deserves an organization makeover because we are a large urban school in New York City that services a student population of over 1400 pupils ranging from pre-kindergarden through sixth grade. Our building is quite old, it was originally built in the 1930′s to house a much smaller student population, hence space is an issue that we deal with yearly. We struggle to have adequate space to service our students, so organization plays an important role in maximizing the space we do have.

Personally, I am moving from one classroom to another this upcoming school year. It was a challenge moving my materials from one space to another, especially since my ‘new’ classroom lacks meaningful storage space. The room was originally intended for kindergarten students back in the 1930′s, so the storage that is available is minimal. The student wardrobe is even half the size in comparison to my other room, and there is a wall of cubbies that is impractical for meaningful storage. I have already purchased a case each of the shoe boxes and accessory boxes to help me utilize this space for my math manipulatives, but now I need organizational expertise to help me maximize and organize the remaining space so that I may create a nurturing and inviting environment for my students. Over the years I have amassed a plethora of resources to engage my students, and I would love to have them organized and accessible so that they may benefit from them fully.

Every student deserves a classroom that is bursting with creativity and conducive to meaningful learning. Every school in our wonderful country deserves the best materials and organization to make this a reality. My school is but one of them, and I humbly submit us for consideration. Please help us utilize our unconventional learning spaces more efficiently. Help us with creative storage solutions for our school supplies. The Donald Ross Elementary School is a diverse Title 1 eligible school located in Braintree, MA. Every inch of space at our school is currently being used. Our school has been challenged by burgeoning enrollment and lack of resources. Over the past 3 years we have lost our library and dedicated music and art rooms to create classrooms. Our library books are in the basement hallway. Our stage is used for instrument ensemble often while gym or lunch is taking place in the cafe-gym-atorium. Our supplies are stored on stage or in the boiler room. Specialists often meet with kids in the halls. Despite the environmental challenges our school has a great group of inspiring teachers and super students that work hard every day. Any improvement would be greatly appreciated.

When we discovered my son needed help due to learning challenges, we were excited to learn our town’s preschool has fantastic professionals to help us. We were impressed by their dedication, knowledge, and love for the children they help.

Fishing Cove Preschool should win because their focus is special needs children who desperately need attention, care and challenging learning opportunities. Their current set up includes the classroom(s), speech therapy room and occupational thearapy room. Due to the wheelchairs, walkers and other equipment, every inch of speace is needed to help the students explore, stretch and learn. The right storage equipment would mean they could make magic for the children. It’s so sad to see students struggle to get around the room or to see materials hanging off desks or strewn about.

I teach special needs students. I have to be pretty creative with my supplies because my students are all so different. I have therefore become a bit of a packrat. Because of the nature of my students I need most of my supplies accessible, yet safely put away. I could definately use some organization help. Being a new Assistant Principal at McHenry Middle School, I’ve noticed some creative organizational solutions missing. MMS houses nearly 900 students grades 6th through 8th grade. There isn’t a Container Store anywhere nearby to insprie creative organization solutions. Middle School students benefit greatly from leading by example and the teachers here deserve the most creative organizational solutions. I drove all the way to the Northbrook store which is over 50 miles away just to bring back some organizational creativity. I LOVE the inspiration the container store exudes and would LOVE for my new staff and students to be inspired to think outside the box and bring creative organizational ideas into their life.

Our little school was a small private school for two years with minimal tuition. With the unwavering support of our families and a little luck we became a public charter and are now free. Each family at Corvian Community School gives back so much and a lot of that is time to the school to make it beautiful each day for the wonderful faces that fill the classrooms. We are only one class per grade this year but next year the school will grow rapidly and there will be even more children to serve. We have taken over an abandoned daycare that is being slowly transformed into an elementary school but there is still a lot of work to be done. A little bit of help from TCS in helping Corvian help the children placed in its care would be greatly appreciated by the families who believe so much in the school. Thank you.

Wauchula Elementary School is an awesome place to go to school. The teachers are fond of their students and passionate about their profession. The staff is always helpful and keeps the school running smoothly each day. The students take pride in their work and their school. This all sounds perfect, but there’s a problem. So many students want to come to WES, we’re bursting at the seams!

Every room in the school is filled to capacity to accommodate our population of over 700 students. We need a system of effective organization to ensure the best possible learning environment for our children. Every summer Paintsville High School teachers return to their classrooms in an attempt to create the perfect atmosphere for learning. Their classrooms are small; there is little room for storage. PHS is a rural school in Eastern Kentucky…a school that cannot budget for classroom repairs, organizational tools, and decorative luxuries. But in a few short days, there will be middle school and high school students passing through the door ready to learn. They have to do the best with what they have. And, suprisingly, every year they do just that. They create a learning atmosphere on a shoe-string budget. Their rolling carts no longer rolled, but housed on the carts are tools the students will use to produce their masterpieces. The bookshelves no longer have a middle shelf, but they still frame the classroom library stacks and textbooks. The filing cabinets only have 2 working drawers, but inside you will find hundreds of manila folders casing authentic lesson plans from years of teaching experience. So, with their non-rolling rolling cart, their shelfless bookshelf, and their 2 working drawer filing cabinet, they have an amazing year. They dream of surprising their students with the materials they deserve…

I teach at Hawkins/Lee High School (a School of Excellence in Education charter school) and we provide a free education alternative to the local public schools around the greater San Antonio Area. We provide free lunches, free transportation, and smaller class sizes. Students who learn to succeed have an opportunity to go to the School of Science Technology and Engineering and Mathematics. We offer this success to students who might not otherwise have access to it. I am proud to serve this district after 20 years of teaching in the public school system, and as their Theatre Director, I know that we must BEGIN somewhere to be able to house the props, costumes, and other hard to come by possessions. It is my belief that with the right storage area which the Container Store could create, our students can learn to take care of their belongings, and take pride in the care of them. Your help would be greatly appreciated!

This is our start up year for Tree of Life. Our church voted to start a school and is allowing us to use our Youth Building, which is great. However, we only have 3 SMALL classrooms and 1 large. Originally we set out to teach grades kinder-8th. But, at the parent’s request, we now have pre-kinder through tenth grade. Try fitting all of those students in 4 disorganized classrooms! In fact, we have moved our upper grades to a small stage in the recreation/cafeteria room. Winning this contest would allow us to make the most use of our limited space and not have spend our limited start-up funds.

I am a special education teacher at James E. Allen Jr/Sr Hs. Part of our school’s program serves students on the Autism Spectrum. This is the program in which I teach. I feel our school would be a great candidate to win this contest because of our orginizational needs. Material management, uncluttered workspaces and the need to house a variety of materials in an easily accessible manner are components of classroom managment system which help our students to be successfull. As it stands right now, each classroom strives to be organized but falls dramitically short due to a lack of storage materials and resources. I know our students will truly benefit from an effort to bring more continuity and less clutter to our classrooms.

The Container Store, My daughter and her friend go to Central Middle School in Port Huron, MI, recently craming it with just about 1,000 children because they had closed another middle school due to lack of money in our community. In 2010, they entered Central as 6th graders, had witnessed so many children that had poor hygiene and lack of clothing and shoes. They came to us (parents), to ask what they could do, so all 4 of us brainstormed and asked the principal if they had an extra room to make a Care Closet to supply hygiene products, clothing, shoes and school supplies. He had said your in luck I have one small storage room. We were so excited till we saw it, JCPenney donated to us 2 racks that barely fit you have no room to walk in the room due to other teachers storing items in there also. So this year we found out we get to move the Care Closet to a bigger room, which it would be a great help if you guys could help us out with the storage part of it. Winning this we wouldbe able to better serve our students at Central, helping with organization. Our girls have poured there heart into helping out their student body in ways nobody knows. Pleeeez help us out we are so grateful for all who have helped with donations.

A large percentage of my school community students come from very dysfunctional and disorganized familial circumstances. I believe it is important to show students how to organize themselves in order to make sense and order in at least one their lives – their school day. I strive to teach them how to organize their school lives by showing them how to keep track of their things and assist our staff in organizing our classroom/school environment. A well ordered environment enhances the mind to think clearly and keeps learning on track, which leads to success. My 50 + year old school building has fallen on very hard times. Keeping true to the goal of representing and teaching personal organization is becoming even more challenging with each passing school year as old equipment fails and is not replaced for lack of funds. An organizational makeover by The Container Store would partner with our school community reach this aspect of our teaching purpose. Additionally, it would be a thrill for our whole school!

I would like to enter Govans Elementary School in Baltimore City. Many classrooms do not have closets or shelves for teachers to store their materials. Bins and boxes are in stacks on the floor. It is a challenge to go through and use the materials because of how they are stored. The Container Store products would help the teachers keep their materials in order and organized for the students to use. Having a clean and organized classroom environment would help promote student centered activities. Our school and our students would be very grateful for this opportunity.

Parents of both types of children offer amazing stories. “We were told at birth that my daughter would never walk nor talk. Today, thanks to Coralwood, Mary Clara now swims, takes ballets and says ‘thank you’ to her teachers and ‘Best day ever’ after watching the latest Ice Age movie.”

Coralwood is lucky. I, for one, don’t have a child at Coralwood but I am a DeKalb County resident who has served on the board of this school for many years and am almost as passionate about its results as the parents and children are.

At present, Coralwood is in a dire situation. The DeKalb County School System is eviscerating its budget. The parents are fighting daily just to make sure that the wonderfully effective school is not gutted in the process. A promised expansion is being threatened meaning not all eligble children can attend. Highly trained and skilled teachers and para pros are being told they will likely be moved to other schools and replaced with less skilled employees. The school’s annual maintenance budget is already cut to less than $8000.

Winning something like this will be a wonderful morale booster for the staff and community of Coralwood. It would make the whole operation more efficient which will allow us to accomplish the absolute most we can out of any effort. Come see the classrooms. Most pre-K and kindergarten classrooms are already full of teaching aids. Now envision the enormous amount of special tools and stimuli that must be on hand to help the special needs issues as well. Now the county is adding 2 more children to each classroom causing space issues as well as safety issues.

Still, don’t doubt for a moment that these children aren’t phenomenally intelligent. They’ll whip together a PPT presentation and show you just what they know. That’s a great basis for future results. After all, MIT and many other organizations have demonstrated that a dollar invested in the early childhood education years of 3 to 6 reaps a 13 fold return. With Coralwood’s help, these children will all not only raise the county’s test scores and graduation rates but they’ll be productive members of the community, instead of dependent members.

She teaches each of the 8 children individually and they all have very different needs. Last year the Scottsdale school district gave them their classroom space at CopperRidge School which is great. They just need more help designing the classroom space for the purpose it is being used for now. Help please! We are desperate for more organizing as these children have such a hard time in an environment of mess and chaos! Ok I’m not gonna lie– our classroom closets are a nightmare. Really, they were never this bad until the fire inspector came by and changed the rules on us: he said new codes require us to leave the top shelf EMPTY! Yes – EMPTY! I mean, why even have that darn shelf if you can’t put anything on it?? Suddenly our classroom closets went from being somewhat chaotic and cluttered to straight-up cardiac arrest zones. Every time I go in there to gather materials for a project I feel like an unsuspecting cast member of Jaws preparing to meet her fate at the hands of an evil toothy villain by the name of CLUTTER. We have so many materials that have accumulated over the years that it becomes overwhelming for teachers to know which materials to use. We are in need of using our time and materials in a smarter way and there is no smarter way than to do it in an organzied way. I work in a special program for Autistic students who need organization more than anything. Students tend to be disorganized in their desks, which leads to disorganization in their own heads. If they see organization throughout their school building and classroom, this can help them to keep themselves organized in the brilliant ideas just dying to make it to paper. I am writing to request the money be given not to my school, but to the school where my young friend recently got a job. Darnell is my oldest son’s best friend. When his family situation deteriorated, we offered him the chance to stay with us. Over the past year, Darnell has been a great asset to our family.
Now, he will be moving to another state and starting a new life in a small school. As a teacher to fifth grade inner-city students, Darnell will be sharing his love and abilities to help them achieve. The school, The New City School, was established to give those less fortunate a chance to achieve. Darnell is the perfect person to help these students forge a new life. Despite all the hardships he has faced, he has emerged as a strong and valuable citizen, and he is ready to give back. His new school is a small faith-based school and is in need of all they can get to help students make a better life.
I submit this request in Darnell’s behalf. He has been through a rough young life, and helping his new school get a “makeover” would be an amazing new beginning for him, one he so deserves.

Since then walls have been added, but at a cost for our classrooms that are in a circular building two deep with the library at the center. We have very very little storage,especially the inside half of the classrooms. Some teachers have already purchased portable closets, others such as myself just have a bunch of ugly boxes stacked up like a wall. I know your products could lower the amount of stress our teachers feel tryIng to solve the storage problem. The students learning environment would improve which would affect their ability to learn. Doak Elemenatary is one of the oldest schools here in Greeneville, TN. Although the paint is chipping, landscaping has fallen to the side, and remodeling is a thing of the past – here at Doak the principal, teachers and staff make each child feel loved, cared for and that each one of them matter. Mrs. Teague – the principal has the children at Doak involved in relay for life where last year alone they raised almost 50000.00. I beleive Doak would appreciate and value an organization make over to one grade or multiple grade room class rooms (at Doak each grade is an open floor plan divided by different items – not concrete walls). Doak employees and students appreciate everything in life, they cherish life and love all that life has to bring. Thankyou!

Huffman Elementary is a great school. We have a great principal, excellent teachers and my kids thrive there. But despite all the great things, the school has been through some huge changes over the last few years. We grew substantially in size including a large Title I population over the last three years eventually having so many students that teachers were in rooms meant for storage, outside in portable units and utilizing every space we could. This year, we finally have had a realignment and a much smaller population. While this is great for the kids, the teachers have had yet another year of moving to new and different classrooms. Even our most organized groups are still struggling to figure out how to clean, organize and find their spaces. We’d love to see these fantastic teachers be able to focus on the kids and the learning not wondering where their equipment is. Thanks.

The older building does not have adequate classroom storage and many broken shelves have been waiting years to be fixed. Teachers purchase school supplies for many kids because approximately 85% come from low-income homes.

My grand-daughter goes to a lovely little school in Coeur d’Alene, ID. It is called Sorensen Elementary School of the Arts and Humanities. You are probably thinking, “Where in the world is that?” It is near the to of Idaho. Very close to Canada.

There is Kindergarten, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th. There is only 1 room for kindergarten. There is AM and PM. Also there is only on 6ht grade class.

It was built in 1952. There is no air conditioning and there isn’t enough lockers for the kids to have their own. A lot of the chairs and desks are falling over and it is altogether out dated. Once again it is called Sorensen Elementary School of the Arts and Humanities. Please help our little school of K-6th.

Maria Montessori believed, “A place for everything and everything in its place”. This belief matches The Container Store’s mission for all of us! Sunny Hollow Montessori is experiencing an expansion and renovation this summer. Yes, it has been 100 degrees for all of July (unheard of in Minnesota, “doncha” know), there is no air conditioning and I now know more about asbestos abatement than I ever thought I would. In June, all of our school office, bookkeeper files and furniture were piled in two rooms, where my co-worker and I have spent the summer working. Before we put them into the new lovely space, we are determined to be organized. Our goal as a school is to cultivate each child’s intellectual and creative potential, appreciation of relationships in nature and society, and sense of individual responsibility. As an organized staff we will spend less time looking for Things and more time serving those who matter – the Children of our school.

My oldest two children attended Carl A. Furr Elementary in Concord, NC last year. We had just moved to the area, so it was their first year at the school. They both made great academic strides thanks to their teachers and the staff at Furr. I know that Furr Elementary deserves an organizational makeover from the Container Store. As with many schools, they have been asked to do more with less. The teachers and staff are paid no where near their worth! Some extra organization would go a long way to making the school day run more efficiently. If a teacher can easily find the tools he or she needs to teach their children, that’s more time that can be spent on the process of learning. Kids need all the direct teacher time they can get. Dear Container Store Staff, my daughter Vanessa Tu read your back to school catalog and saw the school makeover contest.She was very excited and wanted her school to get makeover. She wrote an article to tell you why her school should win. Here’s her article: Hi there, my name is Vanessa Tu and I am eight years old. I’m going to third grade at Broomfield Academy. It is in Colorado. My school’s den is a little unorganized. The books are all over the place. The bathrooms are dirty, like the paper towels are usually all on the floor and the soap is always spilt on the counter. Sometimes our girl’s bathroom has water all around it. We should have mats on the floor, so we don’t slip. If we don’t have the mats, our teachers need to clean it up and we don’t get to use the girl’s bathroom. I do not know why the boy’s bathroom never has that many problems as much as the girl’s room. That is weird! When the bath tissue runs out, we always need to tell a teacher. I think you guys can give us a small shelf or something like that to put bath tissues on it in case the bath tissue runs out. We can just grab one bath tissue from the shelf instead of telling the teacher’s. Then we can let the teacher put it on the hook. That would be great!!! Every month we have an assembly on Friday. When it’s raining on Fridays, all our shoes get wet. The ground gets all wet, too. Most of us have to kneel. It’s also very crowded when we sit. Do you know why? Because there is too many stuff on the floor. We need stuff like book shelves and other organizing stuff for our den. That’s why we need to organize our school den especially our bathrooms. Other classes are pretty organized, though. I hope I win for my school den organization!

In all honesty, all schools deserve such an honor and it is very genrous of The Container Store to make such a generous offer. Teachers work hard giving of their personal finances and endless hours to improve the classroom for their students. What a great way to say thank you to them.
My children attend Contra Costa Christian School which is a private school. Before you cross us off the list, we are not your typical private school. The tuition that families pay does not cover the cost to operate the school. Our demographics are hard working parents who sacrifice to send their kids to Christian School because they believe in the philosophy and excellent education that is offered. Our parents are not wealthy, but understand the value of working hard for the better of their children.
With the cost not being covered by tuition, our facilities end up being less of a priority. That is where your generous offer would come into play. The thousand dollar prize would go so far to improve the state of the classrooms and help teachers to organize the supplies they have. Your prize money would go a long way.

My parents and I were shopping at the Container Store in Arlington Texas. We were amazed at the variety of ways to consolidate things at home, office, and school. I have just completed my Sophomore year at Jefferson Christian Academy in Jefferson Texas. Jefferson Academy is a self-funded co-ed boarding academy that meets the spiritual and academic needs of students from all walks of life. Many of our students come from challenged backgrounds and Jefferson Academy although self-supporting is able to meet and accommodate these students at the school. The needs are great at this boarding academy from Cafeteria, to dorms to the admin. building and I am sure that the $10000 will be a wonderful opportunity to a very deserving school in East Texas. As from August 13, I will be a student at Burton Adventist Academy in Arlington Texas. My relocation is due to my dad relocation for work purposes. I hope that JCA will be a receipient of this wonderful gift.

Hello. I am the Vice President of our PTO here at the Oxford Area School District in Chester County, Oxford, Pennsylvania. And I believe we should receive the $1000 organization makeover. Our PTO is PTO to grades Kindergarten through 8th Grade. Besides the four of us board members, we usually have about four or five volunteers, if we’re lucky. We are always extremely busy during the school year and we meet wherever we can. We do not have any kind of office or space in which we could meet to call our own. One of our schools is where we try to have our home space, but we take what we can get.
It would be great to have our own space where we can store all our supplies (we each store our supplies in our homes) and meet, spread out our stuff, and have the space we need. We’ve always managed, but we’re quite homeless.
Our schools work with us, but nothing is called our own, due to the 20% poverty level in the schools. There just isn’t any extra money for our PTO to use on ourselves.

I would like to recommend a makeover for Malvern Elementary School in McKinney, TX. This is not the school my kids attend. Malvern is a local school that does not have the same financial resources and parent support available to it for the children, and depends on community support from other area schools and churches to help fund necessary programs for the kids. It is a school that would benefit greatly from a makeover provided by The Container Store, and there isn’t another school around with a greater need for such a program.

Have you ever wanted your students to have room to have a reading/writing/math center but can’t because there just isn’t room? Well, that’s my room in Taunton Forge School, Medford,NJ. I have been in this school for fifteen years and for the life of me, I still can’t figure out the best configuration.Some of the walls are brick (terrible for hanging up posters with the NJ humidity),some dry wall.The one closet that the other teacher and I share has shelving that is sagging in the middle. We call it the black hole and students aren’t allowed to go in for safety reasons. My goal every year is to have a clear desk by the end of the day, but because I don’t have book shelves for my books,I’m not sure what color top my desk has! We have to use the dyslexia room which is also our reading resource room as well as one of the portables for storage space. With using these spaces it lacks the availability of classroom usage for students. We also have other “hidden” closets that need a tremendous amount of work. I am an AFJROTC Instructor at a Title 1 school and our program this year has approximately 160 cadets, which consist of both male and females. We have two rooms; one 14×10 and the other 21×14. One has all the uniforms for the cadets and the other has storage equipment. Our desire is to set the two rooms up one for females and one for males. The container store could be a huge help with hanging capacity (we had pipes stores from the previous instructors), we could use storage bins, shoe bins, hangers, rack dividers, and more.

Due to enormous budget cuts and the financial battles, not only are the teachers suffering but more importantly the students have had to deal with major loses of funding for supplies and materials. Although the school board is losing and letting go of a lot of personnel staff the autistic programs across the district are growing rapidly. We the teachers at James H. Bright are in need of a lot of organization in our 4 Autistic units. However, with your help I think that we can make a big difference in getting our classes organized effectively so that classes run smoothly throughout the school year. “An Organized class makes teachers more Effective”.

Bailey Jr. High should receive an organization makeover, because unlike many other schools in our district, Bailey was built in the 1960′s. Due to its age, the school lacks proper storage space. I teach a speech/drama class, and it is very difficult for students to access costumes and props due to the fact that they are not easily accessible. I’m envious of the newer schools built in our district with their larger classrooms and built in storage. If we had a better storage solution, the students would learn a valuable lesson in that everything has a place and should be returned accordingly after use. Also, I have co-directed a musical production for the last three years with our seventh and eight grade students. These productions incorporate elaborate costumes, sets and props. It would be a huge help to have all of our costumes and props organized to save time and money (sometimes we buy something we already had because we can’t locate it!!) My class allows students to get creative and pursue their passions. I know an organizational makeover would benefit them tremendously! I would also like to add that a love of organization and office supplies is one of the many reasons I teach! The Container Store has been my favorite store since I was ten years old and asking for Container Store items to fill my Christmas stocking! My school should not win this award. We are a private school. People pay way to much money to go to my school. Half of my school is what we call sponsorship kids. These are kids who are funded by the government to go to our school. My school would be bankrupt if canton city school was not failing. I think you should give this money to a school that is failing their students. I have been blessed enough to go to a private school, but others are not. They do not have bad grades them selves, their schools are failing them. I say give the money to a school who needs serious help, help them, help their students.

However this year our school’s budget was reduced because of the economical hardships we face, plainly putting it… there is no money in the budget for ANY organization. Our school could use a makeover in the Staff work area & Teacher lounge. Improving these areas would help increase staff & volunteer productivity. Our school’s parent organization storage area is in the old boys shower room at the school. Storage is needed and we are happy to have any designated area for all the items we keep, store, and share all year.

However, this odd shaped space is limited and gets cluttered quickly. Members continually have to pull everything out and put it back into the shower stall to find what they need.

To be able to be organized and utilize all the floor to ceiling space, clear bins, and color coordinate tabs for annual activities would save hours in searching for items and help keep items nice.

Life would be easier for our parent volunteers if our school received a $1000 organization makeover specifically for improving our storage area.

Our classroom spaces are limited and we have two small school storage areas. One of the areas is a book room and the other is a catch all with a couple of bins for shared art supplies, a laminate machine and copier. The areas need desperate help. These areas do not even include our outdated, unorganized, sad looking staff lounge. There is no lounging going on in this outdated space. Another Catholic grammer school in our area closed last June and we are taking on about 170 new students…making our enrollment grow from 230ish to 400ish (I don’t know the exact numbers) Please help us to make a smooth transition for these devastated families that are so sad their school closed and help us welcome them. Being better organized would really help us as we work to give them a warm welcome in September and throughout the school year. It is a huge transition for all involved and we want them to feel at home. What better way to do that than to really have a fabulous plan in place and organized space for everyone to work together. The Harvey School is a small private school in Katonah, NY. The high school especially could use some of the Container Store’s help in organizing the backpacks, winter coats, boots, sports equipment the students leave in piles in the hall as there is no place to leave the stuff between classes and the lockers are just too small. Ms.DeChesere TOTALLY deserves an organization make-over for her 5th grade class at Pearsontown Elementary in Durham, NC. My daughter has cerebral palsy & started school in a wheelchair. Ms.D was SO excited to have Carrie in her class! The school found an appropriate desk that would work with her wheelchair, they adapted the bathroom for Carrie & when word came down that only an adult could push Carrie in her wheelchair, Ms.D said “I’ll do it. No problem.” The classroom’s theme is 70′s Disco so a makeover with lots of neon would be dyno-mite!

Last year, the fifty-plus year old boiler heater was replaced in the basement of our elementary school. Not only had the old boiler not properly heated the school during one of the worst winters, it had flooded the school basement multiple times. Fortunately, this winter wasn’t too bad to put the new heater to the test.

Our school should win the $1,000 prize to replace the shelf units in the art and music classrooms that are in the basement. They finally got a chance to dry out completely this year but aren’t very good now. Art supplies and instruments are still kept off the floor and bottom shelves. If there is enough left over, we could use the money for the janitor and PTA supply closets.

Our wonderful school is in need of some organizing help!! We are a private school in SE Wiscinsin. In order to keep costs and tuition low for our families the school has had to sacrifice. We have a storage closet in a hallway that is for any decorations, fundraiser material, concession stands for our sports teams and the secretary’s office holds most of the curriculum materials! Everything is put on shelves and when needed again just has to be dug through. Our school cannot afford a better system to make the teachers/students/parents lives easier. Please help us!!!

I think my school should win, because to me, and all the other 500 students at my school, it’s the most wonderful school in the world! I have an endless list of all the reasons my school should get the contest.

First off, the education is incredible, as that’s the most important part! All the teachers are kind and loving, and very understanding. If you don’t get what they’re trying to teach, they’ll explain it to you again. They’ll make sure you’re are alright with the subject, and go at your pace.
Our school has enough money to buy some of the most high quality tools! They’re very easy and nice to use.
Our school also has a lot of programs that help children’s education. Theater, Art, Music, P.E, and a lot of others. The teachers in these programs help us to improve, and work hard in all of these subjects!

Everything about our school is very welcome. The teachers, students, welcoming faces everywhere you look. You also feel welcome when you walk through the doors. It’s quiet, settled, welcoming, and makes you feel very wanted. Nothing’s out of control, but nothing is snapping the whip strict, and perfect either.

Also, my great school has been around for many years, and is kind of old. All of us would love to have a makeover. It would make the school even more wonderful then it already is.
There’s still many more reasons, but I won’t keep you here any longer.
Yes, I know there’s a lot of schools out there that want a makeover, but I really think our humble charter school really needs it.

A 1960′s building however, leaves little in the way of modern storage solutions, especially in the winter with the many extra layers required to survive NE Ohio snow and cold. The teachers and recess monitors do an outstanding job but could really benefit from an organization makeover to maximise the outdoor time, reducing wasted time lugging sleds, balls, ropes etc in/out everyday.

Our Theatre Department at our middle school is in need of shelves, bins, and other Elfa items to organize our messy Costume & Prop area. As it is right now, it is impossible for students to safely work in the room, and more importantly, locate the costume pieces and props for a production. We would also organize our makeup area, so that brushes and stage makeup could be kept in a more organized manner. Students would then learn the proper way to care for makeup, costumes, and props.

Our school has 150 students from Pre-K3 through 5th grades. We have shared space with a church for 40 years. As we grow (for many years we were Prek-3rd) space is even more at a premium. Almost all of our classrooms have multiple uses throughout each day and week for school activities and then the church uses them on the weekends. Our teachers do a fantastic job making as many things multipurpose to conserve on the amount of space used. We are a small private school, so having the ability to add to and replace some of storage items would be SO appreciated!

I am the curriculun coach in our PreK/Kindergarten building. We have adopted a wonderful curriculum for our three and four year old students. We have a high percentage of students with special needs. The children learn through play and use real and student/teacher created props for their make believe play. As our programexpands, we want to “share” the new material we are collecting to use in the classrooms. There are bins and baskets and boxes spread across several classrooms. We need help to organize the materials so we can effeciently use/store what we have for student’s to engage with in their learning. An organization makeover would haelp our preK teachers organize out props for play in ur PreK program. We could spend more time scaffolding our students skills and less time looking through boxes for what we need. Our little school here in Atlanta, Georgia is a wonderful school that teaches kids how to live life well. They teach respect for other people and teach the kids how to help others. Like many private schools these days, they are operating on limited funds and doing everything possible to raise money and keep costs down for families. They also function in a limited space that would certainly be improved by some Elfa shelving! I wish I could provide it for them because their supply room could certainly use some sorting! I would like to nominate my kid’s school, Shenandoah Valley Christian Academy in Stephen’s City. Just like in all other schools, I would say that at least 50% of what the teacher’s and staff are doing there, is not adequately reimbursed. The staff have such a devotion to the integrity and respect of the school and most importantly to the students AND their families. I can tell you without a shadow of a doubt that they genuinely LOVE the children that go there. They give them the best possible education they can while limiting their resources so that family’s are not asked to absorb extra costs with increased tuition. They deserve much praise and we love them back for helping raise our kids to be smart but most importantly to have hearts for all that is good in this world!

Norton Elementary School in Allen would love to win The Container Store’s organizational help as the new school year begins in a few weeks. This summer our school has been under complete renovation. When the school bell rang in the spring, renovation began. I know the teacher’s are anxious to get back to their classrooms to prepare a plan on how to set up their new rooms. It would be exciting for The Container Store to help reopen the school in great organized fashion. Because of renovation, the teacher’s won’t have long to get their rooms ready.

First, may I say how proud of I am to work with such a fabulous staff at Mountain View Middle School, Bremerton, WA. We are already a well oiled machine teaching our students and helping them be the best citizens they can be. As for our organization, I think we fall a bit behind. Throughout the school, we have boxes of archived documents that look awful in those copy paper boxes. Some of our teachers love to organize, but they don’t have the resources with cut backs to make their room comfortable for them. finally, of all the people in the school who could use this organization makeover is our Media Specialist! Ed. He goes above and beyond with little reward to make sure that everyone in the school is online with the most up to date technology; he also works hard (along with his aide) to make sure the students and staff have the most recent text and information to complete projects and increase their reading levels. Ed has a back “dungeon” in his office full of technology materials. He struggles to keep it altogether as the years go by. I think he would work even bett if he had a system to organize his parts to find them with ease.

I believe my school should win the makeover because as a small urban charter school our Teachers are in desperate need of organizational help. Our classrooms are very small and the container store is known for utilizing small spaces. Our Teachers and students spend lots of time looking for supplies, resources and unfortunately our Teachers have been known to lose homework. We are a small school serving 150 primarily poor, English as a second language middle school. 98% of our students are on “free or reduced cost lunch program”. Our families are very involved at the school and do all of the maintenance, cleaning, painting; they supervise in the AM and PM, as well as at lunch. Our Executive Board is a bunch of parents who care so much about this school, it’s Teachers and students. This prize is very much needed. The Container Store has always had an excellent reputation in the community and I think that it is great that they are offering this opportunity. Thanks so much!

Our school should win because a lot of our storage units that hold any thing from books to school supplies are mostly donated. I know because my family has donated several bookshelves to hold some of the teachers school supplies. The teachers already do enough with our kids as well as providing items for some students who would not otherwise have school supplies. So I think our school would enjoy having one less thing to worry about.

After many storms and years of neglect our current school is the oldest occupied elementary school in the state. Needless to say it is outdated, worn and too small. We are in the area where a tornado ravage our community. Fortunately the school was missed.
We have been in the process of building a new school but the money just doesn’t go very far. It is almost completed but the employees and students will not start the school year there. No playground and the area is not safe for kiddos yet. We need a little help to make this transistion a bright spot in their day. Thank you.

My neighborhood school should win because while all the teachers are extremely dedicated to their students, its a shame that all of the extras they put in their classrooms come out of their own pockets. There is absolutely no budget for anything in the Philadelphia School District at this time, even lightbulbs or copy paper, and the teachers have been going above and beyond their job to make sure the students’ education and experience doesn’t suffer because of this. On top of this, it’s extremely difficult because 98% of the students in this school are economically disadvantaged, so they often don’t even have their own school supplies and the teachers are digging further into their own pockets to not only supply their classroom but also their students with what they need to succeed.

My son’s school is small in size for the number of students it accomodates. There is no “real” library, just some shelves strategically placed in a large hallway. On the other side of the “library” is a make-shift pre-school with a divider around it. The classrooms are small so all of the students are required to store their backpacks and lunch boxes outside. Normally this is okay, but doesn’t work so well when it rains (or there is an ant attack). Also, the teachers must store a lot of supplies in the hallways outside their classrooms.

My son’s school, Chaparral Elementary could use some serious help to make their small spaces work more efficiently. The Container Store works wonders doing that in our homes. Hopefully they can help the school too!

I have been an active volunteer at Easley Elementary School in Durham, NC for six years and I couldn’t be happier with the education my children have received. Our teachers go above and beyond every day to meet the needs of a diverse population of students. We are a year round school and our teachers work year round planning for and educating our children. They haven’t been at the pool this summer, they have been in the classroom diving into learning. Our building is 22 years old and it is starting to show signs of wear and tear. Our Exceptional Children resource room and the teacher workroom could both use a facelift (the EC program is housed in a trailer!). Good organization can help to make our teachers more efficient, more effective, and most of all, HAPPIER!

After 5 long years of looking for a job, I finally landed one this September;). I’m super excited and so eager to set up my classroom. I had the privilege of working with Autistic children for the past three years as a paraprofessional. The one and only thing that drove me crazy was my teachers lack of organization. It is so important to be on the top of your game with these children, and in order to do that you need to be organized. I am getting an empty classroom as far as storage goes, and there is nothing more that I would love then to have mine and my former teachers organized with containers, bins, etc from your store. We are a small Catholic school of a little over 300 children in the middle to lower income area of our city. As a 4 year PTO Board member, I look for many ways to support our hardworking staff because they give all they can to make our school a great and safe place for learning. That leaves little for the niceties like neat storage and organized spaces.

Even though I would really like our school to win this makeover, I have read all of the other entries up to this point and see how so many schools have the same need. I wish you had $1000 for all of us. What teacher and child these days is not worthy? You have a hard choice to make so I want to thank you, the people of The Container Store, for helping any of us. Our teachers don’t even have a lounge or any type meeting room to colloborate or even use to meet with parents. They have tried to raise the millage to build another building but it never passes. Hi ! My name is Oddalys Salcido and I am currently 14, I will be starting highschool in a couple of weeks so you could call me a freshman I attend stony point high school! Im nervous yet excited just like any other freshman, at least im not alone . I have been to the school a couple of times for orchestra camps and dance clinics and tons of other things I LOVE it! I think the school is really decent but I know by winning this contest and having my school win, I will not only be helping my school but my fellow classmates, peers, teachers, faculty, staff,and also future generations of disquisitve enchanted learners. It would really impact our school greatly and know would just be a great way to set my highschool experience for the next four years. I know by having yall help out it would also make an advanced change and gain a life lesson skill of organization to the students here. It would be such a blessing having our school win this contest because i know it would be GREATLY appreciated. I plan to join the student council in highschool as i was in middle school i almost made it to student body president but instead was vice president. In highschool, president is my goal. I am a Library Manager at NYOS Charter School. It is a very small library serving Pre-K through 5th grade. We have to raise all our own money for books and equipment. Our funiture is all hand me down items we purchase used from the University of Texas. We are in desperate need of a functioning check in and check out desk so that the library can run smoothly. Right now we are taking up shelf space that could be used for more books for returns. I would love a desk with a return slot. I would also love a tall desk that I could stand and work at. Right now every thing is exposed and it looks junky. You can see all the wires and trash cans. I would love to make the Librarian’s Desk inviting and workable. Right now it is neither. It would be great to have shelves in the front to display the newest books for the kids and maybe even a “what’s the Librarian reading” corner. I would love for you to help me make the Library more inviting, workable and special for the students and staff. I think with your help we can excite and inspire more kids to read and want to learn. Pre-K funding is suffering cuts, while guidelines for classroom materials demand numerous resources to provide a quality learning environment. Storage and space is a huge issue. A clean, well-organized environment is important for my students (both pre-k and high school) to thrive. They would have so much more usable space if I was able to store all of their supplies more efficiently.

Being a new school, they are beginning their year with few supplies, including materials to organize their classrooms in order to help teacher their incoming students. They will be spending a great deal of their own money to outfit their students, classrooms, and programs in order to educate. The money would definitely help them to prepare the school.

Our school, Virginia A. Boone Highland Oaks Elementary is an amazing K-5 Elementary School in North Miami Beach, Florida. Our school is what you would call a “neighborhood school” wherein a majority of the students walk to school and everyone seems to know each other. VABHOE opened in 1964 and since that time it has always been a school of excellence setting the highest standards for its students. The school has made some improvements, primarily in technology, however, the classrooms and surrounding areas are in need of a makeover. Our campus is an open campus and we have pods within buidlings which house about 6-8 different classrooms. The children have nowhere to put their backpacks and lunchboxes, they leave them out on a table in the hallway. The teachers have boxes of materials piled up in corners or under shelves because there are not adequate storage units within the classrooms. The more organized the classrooms are, the more organized the teachers are and the more organized the students become. VABHOE deserves this organization makeover!

My daughter’s school has several resource/supply areas for teachers. These areas were probably organized at one point in time but with more teachers in the school building than the school was designed for, these rooms continue to be shifted to smaller and smaller spaces. It would not only save the teachers time in getting next box of tissues they need for their classroom but it would also let them see what resources are available and what they need to ask for in parent donations.
At one point, they had more than enough left over tissues for the next school year but no one could see what was available so parents were asked to bring in more at the next school year. With over half of the students on a reduced/free lunch program, it would very helpful to our community for the teachers to make their supply lists based on what they need and not just use last year’s list. An organized resource room would be so helpful to let the teachers see what they have on hand for the upcoming school year!

However with a small budget (usually around $500 per show) and 50 kids to costume. sets to build, and scripts to purchase we have no money left over for things like storage and organization. Cardboard boxes, trashbags, and hand me downs from kind coworkers make do but in all honesty…we are sometimes re-buying things with money from our own pockets simply because we cant find them. Our school, Beech Tree Elementary in Falls Church, VA, is a Title 1 school that serves an impoverished community of many immigrants. We have a lot of students who struggle to learn to read, since many of them are learning English at the same time. Our book room, which stores books that teachers use to teach their students to read, is badly in need of an organizational makeover. I have a hard time making the books easily located and accessible to the teachers so that they can use them easily. This is not an easy question to answer because there are so many deserving schools just within my home state of Washington, not to mention all over the country. When it comes down to it though, Northwood Middle School deserves this organizational makeover because it would help rebuild our school.

Northwood is located in the Kent School District which is the 4th largest in the state and the most diverse district. We have students from all different walks of life and students constantly coming and going due to the Kent area being a central location for refugees who come through the Refugee & Immigrant Service Center.

This last year our school suffered a number of tragedies with the most poignant being a student bringing a gun to school as well as another former student committing suicide. While the two incidents were not related and no one was injured in the gun situation, it definitely left an impact on our students and staff. The vibe had changed and no one knew how to get it back. Students lost pride in being a jaguar and many felt like if these kinds of situations could happen, how could they possibly deal with their own problems. I worked as hard as I could to create a warm, inviting atmosphere for students and for a number of them it worked. It’s not that simple, however, to pick up the pieces and move on.

I believe that if Northwood was chosen to win the organizational makeover it would help re-establish school pride and a belief that even in the face of bad things, good things can still come about. It would instill a sense that people do care for these students even if they aren’t their teachers and parents. Simply put, it would help heal.

Do we absolutely need this makeover? No, I don’t believe we do. Do we deserve it? No more than any other school. Would it impact us greatly? Absolutely, without a doubt.

Agnor-Hurt Elementary School has had its share of trials, but most recently we lost our beloved office manager of over five years, Crystal, to skin cancer. Crystal and Sheila were an integral part of our school and worked hard to maintain order and peace in a school of over 500 children, where 40% are on free and reduced lunches, and over 20 countries are represented.

We lost Crystal about 15 months ago, and the school community quickly put together a pancake breakfast and fun run to raise money for her sweet family. It was an incredible event that put both our colleagues and our families together in a way that would never be forgotten.

I would love to see the faces of our office team as they were to receive an office makeover from the Container Store.

Organization is something we all work hard at and I’ve been working extra hard at it. We’re lucky to have storage closets at my school, but over the years teachers have accumulated so much, that it’s hard to find places to put all of it. Our school counselor doesn’t have a closet and so she has to improvise often. Sometimes we let her use ours!! Having some organizational help would be great! We used to be a title-one school, but they increased the percentage a few years ago, and we were just below it. We don’t get the extra funding many schools get. I really think my school could benefit from this and we would LOVE to win! I know I would!

My school deserves this makeover because of the people who go there. As I scroll down the screen reading comments made by other people and I noticed that most people went on about how much the school building needed it; i never heard a word about the people who go to their school. At Minnie Mars Jamieson Elementary every kid is special. That’s probably the main reason why we deserve this makeover…The purpose of the makeover is not to make a building look nicer, it’s supposed to benefit the people who go to that school. And no kid deserves it more than the Jamieson Eagles. We’re geniuses, we’re athletes, we’re musicians, we’re actors, we’re the face of the future, but best of all we’re great people. i may have told you what we are, but we need help to become better..we’re awesome now, but with the generous makeover sponsored by Container Store…we’d be supernovas. And by constructing a better work environment, there will therefore be a better learning experience for students.If a school had half as much as that solid good person quality that Jamieson students have, then i can tell you right now that that school is pretty darn special as well. As students we are pretty great..as everyday people; we are indescribable. Even if we don’t win this, i still have to say, we Eagles are great, no matter what. Not all of us might be geniuses, but the certain personality that resides in all Jamieson students makes us great And if someone doesn’t think a great person deserves something great then………i got nothing more to say.

Our school is what would most call “old”, I like to think it has character. We are the largest school in our surrounding area, but with that comes a whopping 61% low income ratio. Rarely does our school have the extra money within our budget to purchase extra items or make upgrades. Our PTO has a closet behind the stage, which is a shared location. This closet holds more then I could describe. Every tool, craft and fundraiser item we could ever use. More glitter, school glue, and bottled water then every thought imaginable. We welcome teachers into our space for any item they might need with open arms, though with that comes a cluster of materials returned, left open and generally without a home! A little organization would go a long way, and help us ensure another year of donating $16,000 back to our school, in hopes of much more.

I teach at a very small, rurual school in southeast Michigan. I love my job and the students. This year we have had to make some pretty intense cuts in order to work out the budget issues that I know virtually every school in the state is having. However, we have an amazing staff and we all try to go above and beyond just being a “teacher” to help out students. Many of us do not have shelving or filing cabinents for storage. Some of us (myself included) do not have closets in our rooms. It would be amazing to have a closet to keep things that students necessarily shouldn’t have access to. Our classrooms are pretty small, and class sizes keep increasing…. but it would help immensely to have the proper organization tools in the classrooms.

Our school should win the make-over because it has only been in operating in Milwaukee for a very short time. We started with students in January of 2011. This month, July 2012, the Department of Labor raised our outcome goals in Reading and Math and we were struggling to obtain our old goals. All of the teachers are working very hard, but we don’t have a lot of time to organize our storage spaces. In fact, when they built the school, not enough storage space was planned into the design. Our students are economically challenged and many of them have dropped out of high school and recently “dropped back in.” We’re so proud of their decision and wish to be able to provide the best education that each individual student could have the opportunity to receive. Our teachers work from 7:45 a.m. until at least 4:30 p.m. and school is in session from 8:00 a.m. to 3:45 a.m. The instructors also have NO planning period. Please help us so that we can send our students out equipped with reading and math skills, high school diplomas, employment, and the option to continue their education. The school’s budget has also been cut and is in jeopardy of more cuts. Thanks for considering our school to assist.

We serve over 150 children under the age of 5 every year through Head Start, Early Head Start and Home Based Head Start Programs. We have one storage room that is shared by all of the programs and right now it is like trying to wade through an incomplete jigsaw puzzle to find what you are looking for. It would be wonderful to see it all organized and labeled for each program.

We are a small Catholic school and as the Student Council advisor I have a closet in my classroom. StuCo is a driving force in our school–we do it ALL: all the dances, all the decorating, all the motivational activities! Our closet is grossly inadequate for our needs. We could seriously use a hand to make our space suit our needs so that we can do for the student body.

I teach in a small coalmiming community. The coal mines are struggling right now. his means unemployment is up in our community which effects alot of our families including our students. Teachers whose husbands work in the mines or mine related jobs can’t spend the money in their classrooms that they normally would. I think this makeover would help to lift spirits. We are sharing space with another school that has been there for many years. Unfortunately, we inherited classrooms in the building that do not have closets of any kind. They try to keep supplies for the teachers in there so that we don’t have to use up so much of our classroom space. There is only one tiny room designated for this purpose as well as housing paper for the copier. This small room has only a few cabinets and and a few small drawers. We need so much organization at our school. Our entire intermediate grades (3-5) are housed in the buiding that has limited space. We were each given one metal closet and a row of built-ins in the back of each room. Those built ins basically store all our books and required reading materials so the metal cabinets are it for our personal supplies. We all share the same lab which we use for additional book/manipulative storage and the supplies are piled up on shelves and the floor. Kids have to step over them to get to the sink. We could go a long way with some storage solution suggestions.

The janitor’s closet, teacher’s lounge, science room and teh math room are being utilized. It can be interesting at times attempting to locate a needed supply that we know is available to us. We are now in portable trailers until our new school can be built but it isn’t scheduled to begin until next year. Our classrooms are no bigger than small bedrooms and there is no storage. About a year and a half ago, right before West Virginia’s state testing, Kenova Elementary was closed due to a sink hole. Because it was closed, KES was exempt from the test and in a short amount of time, and a lot of people at the state, county, and school level, came together to discuss what was going to happen for the following school year. With workers working all night for about two months, we had modular buildings brought in and put together before the kids were to come back to school this past year. Us teachers worked from the time we were allowed in our modulars until the kids came for the first day. There were many late nights and tears for quite a few teachers, because no one thought we’d be ready. But we banned together and worked hard and the school was ready for the kids when they showed up for the first day of school. We are to be in the modular school for about two or three more years while our new school is going to be built (which hasn’t gotten approved yet, but are having a special bond meeting in December of this year). Our little school has turned out to be quite wonderful, except the many leaks we had during this past school year. The only complaint that we have is we don’t have enough storage space for all of our materials. Each room was give a cabinet and some were lucky enough to score two. I’ve had to buy cheap crates and stack them for shelves, and many other teachers have done something similar. On behalf of the staff at Kenova Elementary School, I want to thank you for what you do and for your consideration.

I had to buy as many containers as I could afford to try and store my supplies in the classroom. It still does not look organized at all. The math department (and honestly our entire school) at Kennedale Junior High School needs help…. we have only 1 giant wooden cabinet to store our supplies in each room and our math lab. Any other storage we have has to be purchased by the teacher personally. Each year we talk about how we need to get organized but time and money continue to stand in our way. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been frustrated looking for something that I know I have but is buried in my cabinet. The students bring supplies at the beginning of the year that we have to store for them – but where and how? . Our math lab is full of wonderful manipulatives, workbooks, and other supplies. I made an attempt last year to at least organize our lab with little success. It would be such a blessing to have professionals come in and show us how it is done. Kennedale Junior High School would like to win the $1000 school makeover, please.

New Prospect Elementary School in Alpharetta, GA deserves this make over because our teachers are responsible for their own materials and many do not have proper storage to keep supplies in. Having uniformed storage throughout the school would help children’s confidence and organizational habits.

They need the push to be organized to help them focus on learning rather than outside distractions. As teachers we work very hard to do the best we can with the limited money NYC gives our school. Money and space are limited in public schools today and this makeover would not only help, but teach us how to organize efficiently. When you walk down the halls of my school so many teachers have painted, created beautiful murals and work throughout the summer to create warm – nurturing environments for their students. With the number of students in each classroom growing being organized and using space creatively is essential. Some of our preschool special needs teachers are sharing classrooms and that is an especially difficult challenges to teachers who have always had their own class and space. My school needs an organization makeover BAD! I am an elementary art teacher. I teach grades 2-5 in a high poverty school. I teach 600 kids. I have 3 shelves to store art supplies! That is it. Three shelves to store supplies for 600 students! They barely hold enough paper for that many students, let alone scissors, paint, glue, markers. AND FORGET ABOUT storage space for any kind of clay or other three dimensional mediums. We don’t even have a place to dry that sort of stuff! I also have a $500/year budget for these 600 students. After buying basic art supplies, there isn’t enough left to help with storage solutions. The building that I am in is an old cafeteria. It has two walk in freezers that have had the doors removed. They are no longer used for food storage. They would be PERFECT for storing art supplies, IF I could obtain funds for shelves and storage bins, etc. Sigh! What a perfect world it would be!

When Lakeaires Elementary School was built in 1962, education was much different than it is today. Now, we have so many more materials: guided reading books, math manipulatives, hands-on science equipment, supplies for learning centers… It’s great for our students, but it’s challenging for the teaching staff. As hard as we try to stay organized, cardboard boxes and cheap, dollar store containers are neither sturdy nor attractive. It would be wonderful to have organization professionals help assess our needs and provide efficient, sturdy, and attractive storage solutions!

Our school could definitely use an organization makeover. I am a first grade teacher at w. reily Brown Elementary School inDover, Delaware. This will be our third year in our new school. Our new classroom design gave teachers many cabinets of varying sizes and it has been a challenge for many to get organized with all of our space. As you know, elementary teachers have many supplies such as big books, chart paper, tons of craft supplies, and math manipulatives. We also use games and center materials that we need to keep organized and ready to use at a moment’s notice during the day. It would be wonderful to see what you could do to help us at Brown. I know our art and music teachers struggle with keeping all of their supplies organized in their new rooms. Brown Elementary could use your expertise! Walton-Verona Middle School is a small independent district surrounded by HUGE districts. We don’t get much in the way of funds or incentives because we are small and the bigger districts get it. Our school puts students first and our teachers work VERY hard to make sure our students succeed. An older school the HS and Elementary have been updated and re-modeled- added on but the MS has pretty much remained the same. We need an organization makeover!

If we had organized containers they could get to the materials easily. We also could use some organization in our teacher supply closet. So often we go in there and look for materials we need for the classroom and they are just thrown in a cabinet and we can’t find what we need. If we had some great containers like yours we would be happier and our students would be happier too.

We live in historic Marblehead, MA where the school buildings are quite old. This year, The Glover Elementary School is finally being taken down after 100 years to make room for a more updated building to take the kids into the next 100 years. For that reason, the Village School (which normally houses grades 4-6 with about 700 kids) will now be home for the next year (or two!) to the Glover School’s 2nd and 3rd grade classes. It will be crowded to say the least! What we could REALLY use is a way to get more streamlined and organized during this transition period. Our community supports our schools in so many ways, but sometimes you just need the experts such as Container Store. We’d love your help — oh, and the greatest news is that on October 22nd, 2012 (I think), we’re getting a BRAND NEW Container Store opening up in neighboring Peabody, MA. Instead of driving an hour to the store in Natick, MA, we’re getting our very own Container Store and it’s almost embarrassing how excited we all are! Thank you for the consideration! This donation is not the norm for our school; we are a Title One school. Our school, the Upper Kittitas County Cooperative, is a non-profit preschool which unites parents and the teacher together in the education of our children. We try our best to keep the tuition as low as possible so more of our community’s children can learn together. This year, our lease expired and our rent doubled. We have many fundraisers to help offset the cost of supplies and various other needs of the preschool but find it hard to be successful having nearly monthly fundraisers. This organization makeover would help our school get everything in order and make it easier for things to be inventoried. Multiples grades use these closets and students as well as teachers access them daily. Despite all our efforts the patchwork organization we have is not working- these closets become a mess soon after school starts. We would love a system that would help not only our teachers day to day, but also help our students gain organization skills that will help them after they leave our little school.
