Over this past year, I was diagnosed with an unknown disease which affected my leg and walking was not an easy task anymore. After multiple tests and continued regression, I was referred to the best Neurology Oncologist in the nation, who diagnosed me with having Lymphoma, but only having affect on my leg. The Container Store’s amazing employees from Dallas to New York supported me fully during this emotional time. My co-workers and colleagues gave me thoughts, cards, and phone calls. After two surgeries to my spine and brain, along with radiation treatment, I am now cancer free! I am able to walk now as if nothing ever happened. I am thankful for being a Container Store employee, as I am celebrating my five-year anniversary with the company this year. I give back to Memorial Sloan Kettering Hospital once a month, and volunteer my time to a patient who would be going through a similar surgery or ordeal. Visiting or talking on the phone with a patient makes my journey full circle, and I am privileged to give back. The social workers keep me on call if they need me to speak someone, be it young or old, who is either scared or has any questions. I love these opportunities, and always look for more ways that I can help just one person have hope by looking at me.
