Before I worked for The Container Store, I worked for a company here in Texas that touted itself as an employee-centered establishment. However, after working there for almost five years, I realized that the higher I moved up in the company, the less I was asked to focus on our employees.  Doing the right thing was abandoned for bottom lines and bonuses, and when that happened I decided it was time to leave.

So I came here, to The Container Store’s distribution center in Coppell.

I’m 24 now, and I’ve noticed that one of the defining characteristics of my “millennial” generation is that we want more out of our jobs than a paycheck.  We want to have an impact on something greater than a balance sheet, to be fulfilled by our work in a way that goes beyond buying and selling.  And I’ve found that here.  From the pullers on the floor here in the distribution center to our founders Kip Tindell and Garrett Boone, mindfulness of our financial and cultural goals is a daily priority.  So as I continue my growth here, my management does and will continue to challenge me with the question:  “What else can we do for our people?”

It’s something that drives us as a company and something that drives me as an employee. We would stand for nothing else.
