In honor of our 35th anniversary, we recently asked our Facebook fans to share the memory of their very first trip to The Container Store – and we got some really GREAT responses – including some from customers who shopped at our very first store in Dallas back in 1978! Read them below, and then leave a comment telling us about the first time YOU visited The Container Store!
“I was in the very first Container Store on opening day in Dallas! Loved the store from the very beginning…and still do. We finally got a Container Store in Minneapolis (Edina), MN! Thank you!” – Nancy J. “I still have the white hangers & black/white trash can that were one of my earliest TCS purchases in 1987 to go off to college. Luv spending time in the stores all these years later. Thanks for feeding my need for organization.” – Lindy H. “I was going to the Crate & Barrel next door but decided to check TCS out instead. I walked in just after 10:30 a.m. Um, I left around 1 p.m…I was in container idea euphoria. And not much has changed since then…I LOVE this store.” – Marsha J. “My one and only trip to a Container Store was in New York City. I LOVED IT!!! In Australia we aren’t lucky enough to have this amazing retail experience.” – Leesa K. “I knew of the store through the web page but hadn’t purchased anything. While in San Antonio, TX 6 years ago, I spotted TCS. We were there for a few weeks adopting our son. I needed a small trash can with a lid that we could put dirty diapers in (because we were staying in a hotel). I just about scared my hubby when I screamed out ‘they have The Container Store!!’ First time walking in, my jaw hit the floor because it was SO big. And SO many wonderful things to buy. Since then, the Raleigh store opened and I have been there many times.” – Krystil H.
